Horizontal white lines in Outlook 2016 on Win 10 - what can we do about them

If you are properly testing your email newsletters for rendering issues In Email on Acid or Litmus, you might have noticed some white lines or gaps showing up sometimes especially when you have a lot of images stacked and side by side. But even when your email is not exclusively image based, those buggers might still appear.

So what do we do about them? We fix them.

The fix for this Outlook 2016 bug is rather a simple one, involving wrapping the troublesome images in DIVs. Wait a second, DIVs in emails? How is that happening? Well, we gotta do what we gotta do as Homer Simpson would say.

Here is how I do it:

<div align="right" style="font-size: 0; line-height: 0;">some image here</div>

Someone suggested to add margin in the mix too but I haven't noticed any difference. Apparently it fixes some minor bugs on mobile so it won't hurt adding margin:0; as well. Your call, it works the same in my tests with and without margin:0;

Happy email coding! Your friendly friend, the email snob.
